Lia Knight
Way back in the late 60's, in a small little Kentucky town, I came screaming into this world. My mom, a Southern Belle housewife, and my dad, a farmer, bar owner, janitor, banjo picker, had finally had enough kids. I was the last of four and, believe me, I think I was the reason they didn't want anymore!
I grew up in an even smaller town in Kentucky, with not much to do there but plug my ears while my dad tried to pick his banjo and run through the sprinklers on a hot summer's day.
I was Daddy's Little Girl. Even though I hated that banjo, I loved my dad. The hardest thing I ever went through in my life was the death of my dad. That was 1983, when I was only fifteen. Too much for a young girl to take!
I left Kentucky, my family, my friends and my life behind and moved hundreds of miles cross-country to be with my oldest sister, Connie (my role model, best friend and confidante), and her husband. I finished school and, purely by accident, I got into Country radio.
As far as this show goes, I just want you to know that we all work very hard each night to put this thing together. I'm so lucky to have such a great couple of guys to work with.

A Little Danny History
I was born in Michigan, and spent my teens and twenties touring the US and Canada in various rock and show bands. I ended up at a broadcast trade school in Seattle, Washington, and after brief stints in a couple small towns, I ended up at a legendary station in San Diego. Ever since, I've been traveling from city to city, living out my dream of being a DJ.
Things Danny Likes
In my spare time (ha-ha) I like to write. I've sold a few non-fiction books and a few short stories. I've also optioned several screenplays and had two industrial films produced. I'm never too far from my motorcycle and ride it every chance I get! I still dabble in music a bit, and am always up for some good live music. My idea of a great evening is dinner with my wife, Christie, and 5-year-old son, Adam (who has the energy of Grand Coulee Dam) followed by some SpongeBob and Squarepants episodes on TV.
I read anything and everything…from Reader's Digest to Punk Rock Magazines. I like to stay current. One time my car broke down near a sewage treatment plant (true) and while waiting for a tow truck, I sat in the plant office and read waste treatment literature.
I'm a major movie buff with a wide range of tastes. I'm a huge Spielberg fan, and I really like David Lynch but understand he's too off-beat for most. Once a week, usually on a Friday or Saturday night, I try to watch a good movie with Christie and have a big glass of ice cold milk and a ton of peanut M&M's.
In terms of music, I truly like Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. Keith Urban is such a good guitarist it's scary. No one is more working-class relatable than Trace Adkins. George Strait is the coolest! Literally, that guy never breaks a sweat. I like any performer with passion; a person you just KNOW is 100% into their performance. So, I can like Rage Against the Machine as well as Claudia Church. I can like Rob Zombie as much as Steven Curtis Chapman. Life is diversity - diversity adds to life.

Let's see, I started at WINK back in 1997. Began my career when I was 15 years old at a college station near my hometown of Antrim. I then moved on to my first paid job in radio at the now defunct WNHQ in Milford. Started off doing overnights and weekends at WKNE FM, then moved to evenings, then middays, did afternoons for a while then back to nights.
2007 kicked off a new beginning for me, after being in full-time radio for almost 6 years I've decided to change careers but still hold part-time status at KNE FM and 98.7 WINK Country.
I am now a full-time police dispatcher for Cheshire County. Still holding 2 pt positions ar Cheshire Medical Center and manage to DJ at Yankee Lanes which I've been doing now for 8 years.
In my spare time (yes I do have some free time), I enjoy bowling, skiing, hanging with friend and family. going to amusement parks, and of course going on Carnival Cruises. Email Bob |
